Wrapping up 2024: Our Annual Meeting Gallery and Video

Avalonia Land Conservancy’s 2024 Annual Meeting proved to be a resounding success, drawing a crowd of more than 100 people, with a waiting list of eager attendees. Held at the La Grua Center in Stonington Borough, the event brought together land stewards, volunteers, and conservation supporters to celebrate Avalonia’s remarkable achievements over the past year and its vision for the future.

The meeting opened with heartfelt remarks from Board Director and Communications Committee Chairperson, Sharon Lynch, who thanked the Avalonia community for their unwavering commitment to protecting the region’s natural resources. “Without the volunteers from town committees, the board, and staff, we couldn’t have done what we’ve been able to do” Lynch said, addressing a room filled with supporters.

Attendees were treated to inspiring presentations from Avalonia’s leadership such as Dennis S. Main, Avalonia’s president, Tobias Glaza, Director of Stewardship, and Christopher Kepple, Avalonia’s new Director of Philanthropy, highlighting the organization’s milestones, including the preservation of over 5,300 acres of land and ongoing habitat restoration projects. Special recognition was given to volunteers and donors whose efforts have made Avalonia’s conservation work possible.

For those who were unable to attend in person, Avalonia has made a full recording of the meeting available, ensuring everyone can access the inspiring presentations and updates. Additionally, a collection of photos capturing the energy and camaraderie of the evening are below.
