Avalonia holds its lands to be protected and preserved. We encourage passive recreation, educational studies, and enjoyment that does not interfere with our mission to maintain the land and protect the wildlife that makes it home. Many of our deeds come with specific language that outlines any restrictions as requested by the donor.

For this reason we request the following as general guidelines:

  • No camping or campfires; no hunting is allowed; no bikes, motor vehicles or horses which can damage the trails. Please carry out what you carry in.
  • Do not disturb articles of historical significance: artifacts, landmarks, items and markers in cemeteries, stones in walls.
  • All pets must be on a leash, no longer than 7 feet and kept on the trails. Dogs may be our hiking companions, but they are perceived as predators and can be disruptive and dangerous to ground dwelling wildlife and fragile habitats. Please pick up after your dog and carry it out. It is another way to protect native wildlife and keep the preserves enjoyable for others.
  • Preserves without trails are open for visitors as well. We request you respect fragile habitats and refrain from any picking of plant material. Take only photos. Some preserves may have access restrictions, mainly to protect habitats and wildlife. These will be posted and noted on the property list descriptions.
  • Preserves are closed from dusk to dawn. No after-hours parking at those with off street lots.

Exceptions to these rules will be noted in individual preserve descriptions.

We thank you for understanding and observing these rules.
