Our Volunteer Holiday Greeting

“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” – Winston Churchill

Dear Avalonia Volunteers,

If you have followed our newsletters and various other communications, you know that we regularly recognize volunteer contributions at Avalonia. We continue to marvel that this organization, dedicated to preserving close to 4,000 acres of natural habitats, is staffed almost exclusively by volunteers like you.

Just think about what you all have done for us by:

  • Maintaining preserves through tree work, tackling invasives, walking and marking boundaries, and myriad other outdoor tasks in all kinds of weather.
  • Working with state and town governments and agencies, boards, and commissions to ensure we are effectively partnering in our communities.
  • Seeking grants to ensure maintenance of our preserves and support future acquisitions.
  • Working in our office to keep hundreds of records clear and up to date.
  • Communicating and marketing Avalonia through social media, addressing cards, writing notes, and reaching out to donors and sponsors.

…The list goes on – and it’s all because of you.

Volunteers help make the world a better place. Your choice to dedicate your time and energy to Avalonia is what keeps us at the forefront of stewarding and protecting our valuable land. You are indeed the reason for our everyday success. Please continue to help. Spread the word. Recruit others. Stay involved. We need you and we thank you.

Warmest wishes for a happy and healthy 2020.
