The First Annual Wequetequock Cove Clean Water Festival

The first annual Wequetequock Cove Clean Water Festival was held on July 14, at The Hounds event site on Route 1 in Stonington, sponsored by the Wequetequock Clean Water Coalition. Avalonia was proud to be one of approximately 12 non-profits/groups to host a table or booth.

Funded in part through a grant from the Long Island Sound Stewardship Fund, this free festival was designed to engage the local community, recruit members for the WCCWC, and provide education about the watershed. Avalonia has a number of preserves and conservation easements within the watershed and is committed to the coalition’s efforts to enhance the quality of drinking water and recreational and ecological values within the Anguilla Brook/Inner Wequetequock Cove watershed.

It was an educational, fun-filled, family-friendly experience, with music, food, and drink hopefully to be held next year again!
