5 Things People Love About Avalonia’s Trails

  1. There’s Something for Everyone

Woods, wetlands, meadows, or beach; Flat, steep, or in-between; Avalonia’s trails are so diverse, you’re sure to find something that fits your mood and skill level. Check out our new Trailfinder feature to find just the right adventure. Filter by town, landscape, difficulty, and length. 2. There’s Beauty Everywhere

No matter where you look, the splendor of nature is evident. Find it in the obvious: wildflowers, trees, ponds, overlooks. Dig a little deeper and find it in hidden spots: cairns, rotted stumps, mushrooms, bugs, and roots. Stop and listen; you’ll hear birds chirping and leaves rustling. Visit the same preserve in all four seasons and see how a single vista changes with the calendar.

  1. They’re Peaceful

Find a bench or a boulder… and breathe. Listen to the birds and the breeze. Meditate. Journal. Sit quietly, walk, or run! You’ll find peace in winding paths, sparkling streams, and even steep hills. Our preserves offer quiet places to find your focus and balance.

  1. They’re Dog-Friendly

Most Avalonia trails welcome pets on leashes and a large percentage of our visitors are accompanied by their pups. Dogs, like their owners, need fresh air, physical exercise, mental stimulation, sensory enrichment, adventure, and exploration, and after an afternoon on an Avalonia trail, a good night’s sleep. Just keep in mind off-trail creatures and fragile ecosystems require their own protection and for that reason, dogs must be leashed.

  1. They’re Protected

Experiencing Avalonia’s preserves, 5,000+ acres of pristine, preserved land, reminds us of the importance of protecting open spaces, forests, marshes, coasts, and wildlife habitats. When you visit our preserves, you are stepping onto a space that will never be developed. When you join or contribute to land trusts, wherever they are, you are a part of ensuring the future of land conservation. What a great feeling!
